Beginning Quilting
In Beginning Quilting, students will learn the basics of quilting and make a pillow and/or a lap size quilt using the Stars over Alabama or Road to Huntsville pattern. Everything you need to know about basic quilting will be covered in this 8-week class.
Topics include choosing fabrics to working with rotary cutters, rulers, and mats. You will learn how to sew an accurate 1/4 inch seam, how to press, and how to construct a block. Then, you will stitch your blocks together to make your quilt top. Once your quilt top is completed, you will learn how to lay out your quilt with the batting and backing, baste it together, and finally, quilt it! You will finish off your quilt by binding it. Supplies: With the exception of fabric, all supplies will be provided. As fabric choice depends on personal taste students are encouraged to bring their own. Fabric requirement will be given at time of registration. Fabric should be washed after purchase. Please also starch and iron the fabric before coming to class as this will save time.
